Utah’s largest chalk art festival is back for its sixth year! Chalk It Up is an impactful three-day event bringing together close to 150 chalk artists to transform sidewalks into a captivating one-of-a-kind arts experience. Professional, semi-professional and amateur chalk artists travel in from all around for this highly anticipated event. With 12k attendees, Chalk It Up is a free public arts event that prioritizes community accessibility and helps kindle an interest in the fine arts among non-traditional arts audiences.

Artist Registration

Register to be a chalk artist at Harrington Center for the Arts annual Chalk It Up festival! Artists will be participating in age groups or as a family. If participating as a team, the competition category will be determined by the oldest team member. Only one lead artist registration (ADULT, TEEN, YOUTH, CHILDREN, FAMILY) is needed per team, and any additional artists should register as TEAM MEMBERS. With our new Family category, all ages can compete on a team together (Limit to 4 total team members). Artists will be given up to 36 square feet to chalk. Assigned spaces cannot be changed. Registration will close on June 18th, 2025 @ 11:59 PM.


Each artist registration includes one (1) t-shirt, (1) 48-piece pastel set, one (1) additional 48-piece pastel set will be provided if participating as a team, (1) lanyard, and (1) punch card for 5 snacks and flavored drinks. Lunch will be provided for registered artist each day at 2:00 PM and breakfast on Saturday at 9:00 AM. Unlimited iced water will be provided for registrants.

What days do you plan on attending Lunch (Thursday & Friday) and Breakfast (Saturday)?

Note: Your concept can change prior to the festival, but must be approved by festival staff.

1. Artists will have up to 36 sq. ft. for their artwork. Vignettes are acceptable for judging.
2. Chalk art is only to be produced in designated and assigned areas.
3. The art created must be suitable for public and family viewing (no nude or obscene work). No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art.
4. Harrington Center for the Arts reserves the right to refuse, stop or eliminate objectionable material. Harrington Center for the Arts opinion will be final. Artist must submit a concept of artwork as part of the application process. Artist concept can change prior to the festival, but must be approved by festival staff.
5. Please respect the other artists who are working near you. Do not walk on their pieces or have open beverage containers which could spill and destroy someone’s artwork.
6. Please try to keep your supplies to a minimum and well contained near your space.
7. The event will go on rain or shine. The artists are responsible for protecting their chalk art. Plastic drapes, tape, umbrellas can be used as needed.
8. Artist canopies must we weighted down to prevent damage to the venue and potential injury of participants. Artist canopies cannot be staked into the grass.
9. Participants agree to allow Harrington Center for the Arts to photograph and video record the event, artist designs and artists for promotional and archival purposes.
10. No boom boxes allowed. You may wear portable headsets.
12. No drones allowed at venue.
13. No pets allowed. Qualified service animals are allowed with proper identification.
14. Your chalk art must only include water based chalk. No paint, ink, crayon, fixatives, or oil based chalk allowed. Water based tempura is allowed.
15. Chalk It Up is a smoke free event.
16. Original art is encouraged, but if replicating the work of another artist please give credit.
